Gunmen invaded and killed one person at the campaign venue of the APC in Isielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to reports, the incident happened at Ezzagu ward 1 on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
The attack was carried out during the visit of the state’s central senatorial candidate of the party, Kenneth Eze.
A resident of the area, Mr. Benjamin Nworie narrated how his wife escaped by whiskers as gunmen opened fire on the party supporters.
“It was around 5:30 pm on Saturday, February, that I received a distressed call from my wife, Eunice, that she was in trouble. Her emotions were high and palpitating profusely,” he said.
“She narrated to me that she was calling me from a bush where she scampered for safety, which I sent a rescue team from my nearby village. She was unhurt,” said Nworie, who is also the vice chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists in Ebonyi state.
The hoodlums also burnt a Hiace Bus and one ash-coloured Vehicle before zooming off. Said Nworie.
