What Romelu Lukaku thinks about Chelsea transfer after Inter Milan reject swap deal

Chelsea want to re-sign Romelu Lukaku this summer and have had a bid rejected by Inter Milan. And Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has claimed the Belgium international is happy at the San Siro, plunging a potential return to Stamford Bridge into doubt. The forward previously spent three years in west London, making just 15 appearances.

Chelsea signed Lukaku in the summer of 2011, back when Andre Villas-Boas was in charge.

And now, a decade on, the Blues are hoping to bring the Belgium international to Stamford Bridge as they look to win the Premier League title next time out.

With Erling Haaland out of reach, and Tottenham showing no signs of selling Harry Kane, Chelsea have decided to launch an offer for Lukaku.

It’s been rejected, with Inter warning their Premier League counterparts they want a fee of £100million in order to let him go.

And, now, Sky Sports’ Solhekol has suggested Lukaku is happy at Inter and has no plans to return to England at the current moment in time.

“As far as the player is concerned, Lukaku is 100 per cent committed and focused on doing his job at Inter Milan,” he said.

“He loves playing at Inter, he is not going to kick up a fuss, and his attitude has been exemplary.

“Antonio Conte’s departure doesn’t concern Lukaku because he’s been rejuvenated since joining the club.

“Why would he leave Inter Milan?”

If Chelsea end up failing to sign Lukaku, it will leave Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich with a dilemma.

Haaland remains their priority but Borussia Dortmund are adamant he won’t be allowed to leave, especially after already selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Robert Lewandowski is another potential option as the Bayern Munich star enters the final two years of his contract.

Yet the Poland international seems settled at the Allianz Arena, meaning Chelsea may then have to go after somebody else instead.

It’s been a quiet window from the Blues so far, in stark contrast to some of their rivals.

United have already signed Sancho and Tom Heaton from Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa respectively, while also agreeing a deal in principle for Raphael Varane.

Arsenal have landed Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Taveres as they seek an improved campaign under Mikel Arteta.

And Manchester City are closing in on Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, who is expected to move to the Etihad for a British-record fee of £100million.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has backed his old side to sign a marquee name before the transfer window slams shut in five weeks’ time.

He said on the talkSPORT Breakfast: “Chelsea have earned a lot of money in the last year or so, with the Champions League and selling Eden Hazard.

“I cannot believe they’re not going to break the bank and sign someone like Haaland.

“They are going to do a really big transfer, in my opinion.

“It’s been so quiet, the storm is coming – because Roman [Abramovich] has always done it, he’s always backed the club.

“I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they go in with the squad they’ve got today, even though they are European champions.

“Giroud has gone, Tammy is rumoured to be leaving as well, they’re making space.

“For them to do that, they are planning a mind-boggling transfer, and I think it will be Haaland.

“They’re going to offer big money for somebody and I suspect it would be him.”
